A good straight drive down the middle of the narrow fairway, avoiding the bunkers on the right, will set you up well for your approach to the green on this par 5 hole. The large green is protected by two bunkers – right hand side and front left.
HOLE 2 (par 4)
A straight drive is absolutely essential on this hole. Go left and you are out of bounds on the airport road. Go right and you might find yourself on the 8th fairway. When you get to the green, your problems are not over, because there are steep slopes to both sides and beyond.
HOLE 3 (par 4)
Again the position of your drive on this Par 4 is important, with out-of-bounds on the left and trees on the right. The large green is elevated and well protected by bunkers and has some interesting hole positions on the slightly sloping surface.
hole 4 (par 3)
An exciting par 4 – the widest fairway on the course. A good long drive makes for an easy approach to another large green. Good chance of a birdie if your putter is working well.
hole 5 (par 4)
The first par 3, but quite a long one. Club selection can vary widely depending on the wind but it has another large undulating green which has bunkers front left and front right.
hole 6 (par 4)
A well positioned drive is a must on this hole – a dog-leg to the right. The fairway is undulating and the green is two level and large. Three bunkers are waiting at the green for an off-line shot.
hole 7 (par 4)
Another slight dog-leg hole which presents no problems for a well struck drive. The sloping green is elevated on both sides and back which means some careful recovery shots for anyone that misses it.
hole 8 (par 4)
A straight drive down the slightly undulating fairway should pose no problems on this hole. The green is large and sloping and the approach is guarded right and left with bunkers. The green's contours can pose some real problems.
hole 9 (par 4)
A long straight par 4 and, with a good drive over the hill, you are left with a good chance of hitting a fairly flat green protected on the left side by one bunker. Out of bounds on the right is a risk with tee and second shots.
BACK 9
HOLE 10 (par 4)
Another straight, narrow fairway but long hitters beware of two pot bunkers on left side. Everyone beware of out-of- bounds on the right. No bunkers at the green but it slopes steeply at the front. A firm shot to the flag is necessary.
HOLE 11 (par 3)
Par 3 to an elevated green with bunkers left and right. The 'valley' in front of the green can catch players and on the right there is thick rough and out of bounds to penalise a bad 'slice'. The wind direction and strength can also make it very tricky.
Hole 12 (par 4)
Two good shots, or more, on this long par 4, are required to hit a large green. Trees can come into play both left and right and there is a small bunker at the back left of the green. The green has two distinct levels to contend with.
HOLE 13 (par 5)
This is the longest hole on the course. It is a dog-leg right with a wide, two level fairway to a large sloping green protected by a bunker front left and one on the right. This green provides some very difficult pin positions which are a real test of your putting skill.
HOLE 14 (par 3)
Another good par 3 well protected by three bunkers. The green is long and quite narrow so it is important to hit the right line. Here again the wind can cause problems, especially with the steep slopes on both sides of the green.
HOLE 15 (par 4)
The undulating fairway on this par 4 can make your drive finish in some tricky places, including out of bounds along the left. The green has two bunkers on the left and one on the right. But this is a good hole to par.
hole 16 (par 3)
Awonderful par 3 – sometimes described as our “Signature Hole”. A large green surrounded by four bunkers. An accurate tee shot can give you a chance of a birdie but beware of the front bunkers – they are steep!
hole 17 (par 4)
This is a long par 4 – especially if an easterly wind is blowing. Narrow initially but opening up to a good wide fairway.Trees right and left can cause problems with stray shots. One bunker at the right front of a large green.
hole 18 (par 4)
A slight dog-leg left is the last hole – par 4. A ridge runs across the fairway with a large bunker on the left waiting for an off-line drive. Another large green sloping back to front with bunkers left and right. Finishing with two putts will be a good end to your round!
